Hamas: Jihad Not Terrorism

"Al-Qassam Brigades congratulates our people on the continuation of their Jihad and Intifada and salute all those who resist the enemy and its terrorism especially the Mujahideen who are deployed in all areas of our holy land. We pray that Allah would accept all our victims as martyrs, to reward them the best and to aid us in catering for their families and the families of the wounded and the steadfast detainees. We affirm that our people did not and would not forget their sacrifices and would continue to exert utmost efforts to ensure their release from Zionist jails.

We call on the Arab and Islamic countries to shoulder their duty in backing the Palestinian people’s steadfastness and Jihad and to stick to their excellent stand in rejecting attempts to label Palestinian resistance as terrorism. Raytheon & Cosmos

The Office of Naval Research awards Raytheon Company a $6.5 million contract to develop affordable, high-performance semiconductor integrated circuits for electronic-driven military systems.

Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is funding the contract as part of its Compound Semiconductor Materials on Silicon (COSMOS) program. Dr. Mark Rosker is DARPA's program manager.

A Raytheon-led team will integrate high-performance compound semiconductors with low-cost commercial complementary metal oxide semiconductor silicon wafers to achieve superior cost-benefit performance compared with either technology on its own.

"The objective is to develop a high-resolution analog-to-digital converter with low power consumption," said Dr. Katherine Herrick, Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) program manager. "However, the benefits of the program go significantly beyond the specific objective. The processes lead to advanced low-cost analog and digital, microwave and millimeter-wave integrated circuits with applications for next-generation radar, communications and electronic warfare systems."

"Our team's process of directly growing a compound semiconductor on a uniquely engineered silicon substrate provides a new technical approach that is creating a class of integrated circuits that will enable more affordable systems for the warfighter," said Mark Russell, vice president, IDS Engineering.

Kuwait to Drop Shell?

Kuwait is considering dropping Royal Dutch Shell as a partner and is instead considering BP in a project to build a $5bn oil refinery in the Chinese province of Guangdong.

Shell had hoped to gain a foothold in the domestic fuel market of China, the world’s second-largest energy consumer, via the Guangdong plant, following an attempt to take a share in another refining project failed last year.

The refinery would be one of the largest joint venture investments in China, similar in size to the $ 5bn refinery to be built by ExxonMobil and Saudi Aramco in Fujian.

Nablus Operation Update

"Prior to the start of the Yom Kipur fast IDF forces completed an operation against the extensive terror infrastructure in the Ein Beit Ilme refugee camp in Nablus. The purpose of the operation was to prevent the execution of terror attacks into the Israeli homefront. The operation began following the receipt of information about the intention of Palestinian terrorist organizations to execute murderous attacks. Nablus is the terror capital of the West Bank. In 2007, 10 bomb making laboratories were found in the area. In 2006, 117 of the 187 potential suicide bombers arrested in Judea and Samaria were from the Nablus area.

An IDF soldier, Staff Sergeant Ben-Zion Haneman, was killed, and another soldier was lightly injured during the operation. In a number of incidents, Palestinians opened fire and detonated explosives at IDF soldiers. IDF forces killed two Palestinian gunmen, among them the gunman who was responsible for the killing of Staff Sergeant Haneman.

IDF searches uncovered weapons caches in civilian homes containing hand grenades, assault rifles, means for making explosives, mechanisms used for explosives, army equipment and additional ammunition. IDF sappers detonated the weaponry and explosives material in a controlled fashion.

49 wanted Palestinians among them Hamas and PFLP militants were arrested during the operation and taken for questioning by security forces. Among the militants arrested, was Nihad Rashid Hasan Shakirat, a senior wanted militant, head of the Hamas terror organization in the Ein Beit Ilmeh R.C. Shakirat, 34, was hiding inside a civilian home at the time of his arrest until the residents of the house, concerned by the presence on behalf of the IDF, forced Shakirat to exit the building.

Shakirat, 23, revealed during questioning that he had given an explosive suicide belt to Mahed Ashur, a resident of Nablus who worked in Tel Aviv. Yesterday, IDF forces arrested Ashur who directed the forces to a weapons cache, which contained bomb making materials. During his questioning Ashur admitted to receiving a suicide belt from Shakirat which he transferred to Tel Aviv in order to execute a suicide bombing against Israeli civilians. The belt was later found by Border Police sappers in a civilian home in southern Tel Aviv and detonated in a controlled fashion.

During a search in a civilian home, the forces came upon a pregnant Palestinian woman sitting on a bed. The woman refused to get up, claimed that there was nothing unusual in her home and that she did not feel well. The forces continued the search and uncovered a weapons cache under her bed.

The Forces also arrested the senior wanted Palestinian militant Ahmed Yusuf Iah Aa-Az, 36, one of the senior leaders of the Hamas terror organization in the Ein Beit Ilmeh R.C..

In a different incident, the forces arrested a Hamas terror operative, who was dressed at the time as a woman in order to disguise himself while the IDF forces searched for him.

IDF forces also arrested Haled Nuri, Yusuf Nadi and Mustafa Nuri, members of the Hamas terror organization who admitted during their investigation that they intended to execute terrorist attacks. Mustafa Nuri also admitted his intention to commit a suicide bombing. Their terrorist cell acquired weaponry for the execution of the attacks from the leaders of the Hamas infrastructure in the Nablus region. Hamis Valid Hamis Mari, 28, a senior PFLP operative was also arrested as part of the activity.

The IDF operation successfully prevented terror attacks on Israeli civilians. The IDF will continue to operate against the terror organizations in order to ensure the security and safety of the citizens of Israel."

From Gaza to the Golan

The soldiers of the Givati Brigade, which had until recently been operating in the Gaza Strip, participated in exercises ranging from company to battalion maneuvers on the Golan Heights. A special emphasis was placed on various defensive strategies.

Colonel Ronen Shveki: "The exercise was executed successfully, and accomplished the majority of its goals..."

The Deputy Battalion Commander: "This is a conventional infantry brigade, but we must know also how to engage terror organizations, in addition to our training as foot soldiers...The main difference is that in the Gaza Strip we operate in a much smaller configuration. It is not identical to how the entire brigade is operating together in this exercise. In Gaza the squad commanders have a more prominent role, as do the platoon and company commanders, whereas here all of the commanders and soldiers of the brigade – including its reservists – can be seen in action."

Lieutenant Colonel Marley:

"We find it important to perform exercises here, and we enjoy it as well, because the terrain itself is different, and represents new challenges...Similarly, we – as an infantry brigade – must be prepared for battle in this type of terrain as well as all of the possible exercise grounds throughout Israel. I can tell you that for us this exercise is as great as it is refreshing. In this manner we retain our readiness both in a subjective, and a broader sense. The exercise managed to bring together the entire brigade. After an exercise such as this you know that you are as prepared as possible."

He urged all states of the region to sign the Nuclear non-Proliferation Treaty.

The Saudi official affirmed statements, previously made by the IAEA Director General Mohammad Al-Baradei, about a black market for trade in nuclear materials and equipment.

He urged super powers to intervene and coerce Israel dismantle its arsenal of nuclear arms, and expressed concern that other states in the region might follow Tel Aviv's example to seek to possess nuclear arms.

Dr. Al-Suwayel praised a proposal, made by Al-Baradei and US President George W Bush on working out a study on 'globalization of the usage of the nuclear fuel,' whereby the nuclear super powers would supply other countries with treated used uranium."

Olmert Convenes Cabinet

"Prime Minister Ehud Olmert today (Wednesday), 19.9.07, convened the Security Cabinet, in continuation of its September 5 meeting, in order to discuss possibilities for taking action in light of both the continued Qassam rocket fire from the Gaza Strip at Sderot and other communities near the Gaza Strip and the continued terrorism in the Strip.

In today's unanimous decision, it was determined:

Hamas is a terrorist organization that has taken control of the Gaza Strip and turned it into hostile territory. This organization engages in hostile activity against the State of Israel and its citizens and bears responsibility for this activity.

In light of the foregoing, it has been decided to adopt the recommendations that have been presented by the security establishment, including the continuation of military and counter-terrorist operations against the terrorist organizations. Additional sanctions will be placed on the Hamas regime in order to restrict the passage of various goods to the Gaza Strip and reduce the supply of fuel and electricity. Restrictions will also be placed on the movement of people to and from the Gaza Strip. The sanctions will be enacted following a legal examination, while taking into account both the humanitarian aspects relevant to the Gaza Strip and the intention to avoid a humanitarian crisis."

Iran Warns of Retaliation

Iranian Air Force Lieutenant Commander for Operations, General Mohammad Alavi: "Israel's rhetoric about air strike (on Iran) is just psychological warfare, because this regime does not have the power to launch air strikes on Iran. Israel is not capable of posing a serious threat to Iran because it does not have the actual power and capabilities needed...We can also attack them by our fighter planes and respond to their possible air strikes...Such a plan is not just a hollow threat and we do everything on the basis of correct and precise planning and we have gained the needed readiness.

We have gained the required preparedness to confront different plans and strategies and we do not allow their fighters to launch such easy attacks on our country as they allege...A majority of our blind points have been covered and all flying objects are under our control. Hamas Terrorist Arrested

"The ISA and IDF, in a joint operation on 31.7.07, apprehended Hamas militant Khader Hashem Khader Shkeir, from the village of Ein Arik, on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack on Israeli tourists in Jordan.

Shkeir, born 1982, has admitted to having planned the attack during a visit to Jordan in 2005, with his accomplice and fellow Muslim Brotherhood militant Shadi Dabaa. After having observed various possible targets, the suspects choose the Radisson SAS Hotel in Amman and one additional hotel nearby as their preferred targets for the attack.

The two planned to board a bus carrying tourists to the hotels and perpetrate a mass shooting spree in order to murder as many Israelis as possible. To this end, they purchased two AK-47's and trained in their use.

Their plans went awry when Shkeir was apprehended by the Jordanian security forces on suspicion of being a member of the Muslim Brotherhood and deported to the Judea and Samaria. Once there he was recruited by Hamas and conducted operations for one of its cells.

The security forces are continuing to act against Shkeir's Hamas accomplices.

Boeing SDB Test

The Boeing Company conducted the second successful test flight of its Small Diameter Bomb I (SDB I) Focused Lethality Munition (FLM) Sept. 14 at White Sands Missile Range, N. M., demonstrating the weapon's enhanced blast, ultra-low collateral damage warhead and pinpoint accuracy.

The flight, along with an autopilot performance flight on July 11, is part of the first phase of a $27 million U.S. Air Force Joint Capability Technology Demonstration contract.

"The FLM version of SDB replaces the normal SDB steel warhead with a carbon fiber composite warhead and enhanced blast explosive to eliminate warhead fragments and increase blast power," said Dan Jaspering, director, Boeing Direct Attack Weapons. "The resulting small, but lethal, blast area will allow warfighters to hit targets in sensitive areas while minimizing the risk to nearby personnel or structures."

The SDB I weapon system began combat operations in October 2006 on the F-15E Strike Eagle. The 6-foot-long, 250-pound class, all-weather SDB I weapon has a standoff range of more than 40 nautical miles, and with its SDB carriage, quadruples the number of weapons each aircraft can carry. Boeing will manufacture more than 24,000 SDB I weapons and 2,000 carriages for the Air Force, with deliveries planned beyond 2015.

Iran Identifies "Weak Points"

Mohammad Ali Jaafari (IRGC Commander) warns the U.S. that Teheran has identified its "weak points" in Iraq and Afghanistan and would launch a crushing response to any attack.

Hamas Analyzes Potential Gaza Operation

"Entering the Gaza Strip in a military power is not something impossible, and it should begin quickly, but being in the area will cause causalities inside the Zionist army that won't be tolerated after the Lebanon war in the last Summer. So the Zionist militant leaders will not be ready to have new casualties.

Secondly, the expected results after a whole attack will be more killing, thousands of arrest, destroying houses and increasing closure. Will Resistance be defeated after that?

Thirdly, using the extreme power, killing thousands of civilians in the Gaza Strip, the most overcrowded place in the world, will lead to use more destroying weapons, especially that there is intelligence information referred to finding fatal weapons in the Gaza Strip, which may force the resistance men to use it as a self defense.

Supposing that the Zionist army is ready from the technical and logistic sides -- can the army settle the results of the battle during the military tension on the northern border of the Zionist entity and the strategic threat by Iran?"

Hamas: We Have Nothing to Lose

"The Palestinian people has nothing to lose after loosing their land, killing their children, closing their borders and blocking their internal streets inside the cities and villages. In other words, the Palestinians, and mostly Gaza Strip residents, have nothing to lose anymore: Another blackout, another targeting killing, another closure, and another blow won’t do a thing. They’re already used to it.

The only result of such moves is the recharging of the desire for revenge, which leads to 'creative' ways to resist the occupation forces. Because 'what can Israel do to us – push us all into the sea?'

Where is the vanity and arrogance of the American army and its policymakers? he added. And moreover, where is the value of the American soldier, whose killing used to make headlines in all the media, but who today is dragged in the streets of Baghdad, hung on the bridges of Fallujah, rolled on the rocks of Afghanistan and burned to coals in the middle of its capital, Kabul."
